If you logged into Gmail over the last hour (or visited the Gmail homepage), you probably noticed that something looked a bit off: all the vowels are missing. We realize this makes things difficult for all of you who rely on Gmail — whether at home or at work.
At 6:01 am Pacific Time, during routine maintenance at one of Gmail datacenters, the frontend web servers in that particular datacenter started failing to render the letter 'a' for a subset of users. As error rates escalated, the strain spread to other datacenters. Gmail respensables worked quickly to avoid a cascading failure of the entire alphabet by implementing a stopgap solution that limited the damage to the letters 'a,' 'e,' 'i,' 'o,' and 'u.' As a result, they're experiencing Gmail’s first temporary vowel outage. They’re still investigating whether the letter 'y' is impacted.)

Android, Google’s open source mobile operating system, has evolved past being just a platform for mobile phones, finding it’s way into digital photo frames, satellite navigation units, tablets and even laptops.
Highlighting the versatility of Android, a new product that started production yesterday which is slightly bigger than most Android powered devices; the Roewe 350, has become the world’s first Android equipped automobile.
The car features a DVD/GPS system that runs on Android 2.1, the latest kernel release from Google. The system will enable drivers to gain access to real-time traffic reports and allows for direct web access from within the car. Being constantly connected, the car also allows the driver to be contacted via online chat, which could be an interesting point for road safety groups.
For those not familiar with the Roewe brand, the company is an amalgamation of the Chinese company SAIC and the old British car manufacturer Rover/MG. According to TwitTown, SAIC bought the Rover 25 and 75 models in 2004, just before MG Rover went into administration, producing the cars in China under both the MG and Roewe names.
It’s not known quite how the car will be connected to internet, whether it will feature an inbuilt 3G card or allow third-party wireless WAN cards.
The Roewe 350 is due to be officially launched at the Beijing Auto Show next month.

Début de cette semaine, les habitants de la région de Sfax et Sousse ont eu des difficultés à utiliser leurs lignes Tunisiana. De sources sûres chez l’un des opérateurs concurrents, cette panne est due à une coupure de la fibre optique qui relie le siège technique de Tunisiana à Tunis avec Sfax et Sousse. Cette fibre passe aux abords de la capitale puis traverse la côte tunisienne jusqu’à Sfax tout au long du réseau ferroviaire de la SNCFT.
D’après nos sources, la coupure s’est faite au niveau de Tunis (près du TGM). Le fautif ? Orange Tunisie. En effet, des équipes de ce dernier faisaient des travaux pour faire passer ses fibres à côté de ceux de Tunisiana.

For your reference, the 2010 estimate of the size of the United States population stands at roughly 310 million people according to Wikipedia, so that’s a whole lot of people browsing the Web from their phones right there.
The report, which you can purchase here, also says the number of mobile Internet users in China will grow fast to reach a staggering 957 million, and that the country will count approximately 1.3 billion mobile subscribers by 2014.
